Make a Child Happy With a New Wig

Make a child happy by donating your hair for a wig. Cutting Post is an official salon for Locks of Love, a non-profit organization that makes wigs with authentic hair for children suffering from hair loss.

We won't charge you for your haircut and will package and mail your donation so that a child with cancer can benefit with a new wig.

Hair Donation Guidelines

You can get your haircut from anyone as long as it's done the right way. We accept clean ponytails and braids of 10 inches or longer. It's preferable that you visit a salon that you're already familiar with when you get your haircut. If you're unsure whether your hair falls under our guidelines or have questions about the products you've used, contact your stylist or the product manufacturer today. Our guidelines are as follows:

Hair that is colored or permed is acceptable
Haircut years ago is usable if it has been stored in a ponytail or braid
Layered hair is acceptable if the longest layer is 10 inches and may be divided into multiple ponytails
Curly hair may be pulled straight to measure the minimum 10 inches
10 inches measured tip to tip is the minimum length needed for a hairpiece
Hair that has been bleached (usually this refers to highlighted hair) is not usable. If unsure, ask your stylist. We are not able to accept bleached hair due to a chemical reaction that occurs during the manufacturing process
Hair that is swept off the floor is not usable because it has not been cut while bundled in a ponytail or braid
Hair that is shaved off and not in a ponytail or braid is not usable. You may divide your hair into multiple ponytails, and cut each one off before continuing to shave
We cannot accept dreadlocks, wigs, falls, hair extensions, or synthetic hair. Our manufacturer is not able to use them in our children’s hairpieces

Special Points to Be Considered for Hair Donation

Shorter hair (6 inches - 10 inches) will be separated from the 10 inches and longer lengths and sold to offset the manufacturing costs. Although shorter hair cannot be used in hairpieces, it still greatly helps to reduce costs
Gray hair will be accepted and sold to offset the manufacturing costs
Colored hair is not usable if it is colored over bleached hair

Hair Donation Process

Locks of Love does not reveal any information regarding the donations we receive due to our privacy policy, but we send you a thank you postcard in acknowledgement of your donation, which you'll receive within 90 days. Keep the following points in mind when you send in your donation:

Place your dry ponytail or braid in a resealable plastic bag
Place the resealable plastic bag in a padded envelope
If you wish to receive our personalized thank you card, please fill out the Locks of Love hair donation form or write your name and address on a full-size separate sheet of paper and include it inside the envelope. We cannot acknowledge donors who do not send their name and address according to these instructions
Do not staple or wrap the donation form around the bag
